Will my TiVo service still work if I cancel my cable subscription?

Okay, Comcast is getting so far out of line with costs and its monopoly that I could buy a decent car after paying for cable for only 5 years and an even better one if I go 10 years. Seriously, it would be cheaper for me to go to the theatre for what I pay based on my actual usage. It would be ooooh so much nicer if there were some sort of a-la-cart where I could pick the stations I actually use rather than have all these tiers with one or two stations I really watch spread out between 3 levels. What
