Need camera help... how to convert from Mpeg need help fast?

I am making a movie for school, and when I added the files to my computer from my camera a DXG-572V 5.0 Megapixel they were all added to my computer as MPEG files... they are all being read as audio files instead of video files so no picture is showing up...
