Sony Camcorders with Alternative Mic?

I have been eyeballing the HDR-CX100 from Sony.com . It seems really nice, but doesn't have an ALTERNATIVE microphone input. It does have a built in mic.

My question is that i want to ask if there is any HD camcorders that have an input that you can put a microphone in. All I see is the professional camcorders with those input of microphones, my budget is around $600.

The Canon HV20, HV30, HV40 and the Sony HDR-HC9 are the least expensive camcorders with a mic jack (1/8") AND manual audio control. They record to 1080i HDV format video (and 480p standard definition DV format video) - but this means your computer needs a firewire port for importing the video. If it does not have one, hopefully your computer has an available expansion slot so you can add one. USB transfer will not work.

A mic jack is only part of the equation - the manual audio control is very important.

I used to use a TRV-27 which has extrenal mic. I've found that the built-in mike on Sony camcorders is really quite good. Check out Sony Camcorders buying guides, it may be of little help to you to choose the one that fits in your budget - http://www.retrevo.com/samples/Sony-Camc...
